June fuel sales up on higher auto fuel demand

India's annual domestic oil product sales rose 1.8 percent in June, its highest jump since October, to 12 million tonnes on higher demand for auto fuels, government data showed on Friday. Auto fuel sales, including gasoline and diesel, rose as dealers stocked the fuel in anticipation of a hike in prices.
Premature to raise India iron ore export tax - minister

Junior Finance Minister S.S. Palanimanickam said in a written reply in
parliament on Friday that it would be premature to raise tax on iron ore
exports, in what could provide at least a temporary relief to exporters
and miners of the commodity.

Chennai : Luxury car maker Mercedes Benz India is planning to launch new models, start a second shift and continue brand spend to stay ahead of competition in a market that is slated to grow at 50 percent this year. The company is also looking forward to the launch of a finance arm by its parent company to finance purchase of first and second hand Mercedes models.

Mumbai : A benchmark index for Indian equities Friday afternoon was trading quiet, tracking negative other Asian markets. The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 17,981.06 points, was trading at 17,942.41 points, 49.59 points or 0.28 percent down from its previous close at 17,992 points.
'Mobile phone sales to rise 19% in India'

The Indian telecom story still has a lot of zing left in it. Sale of mobile handsets in India, the world's fastest growing wireless market, should rise by 18.5 percent this year on increasing telecoms penetration in Asia's third-largest economy, research firm Gartner said on Thursday. Mobile handset sales will rise to 138.6 million units in 2010 and 206 million by 2014, up from 117 million last year, it said.

Rupee weakens by 7 paise against dollar in early trade

Mumbai : The Indian rupee depreciated by 7 paise to 46.60 a
dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market today,
largely on month-end dollar demand from importers and capital outflows
by foreign funds. However, dollar''s weakness against other currencies

Sensex opens 79 pts low on ONGC, Honda poor quarterly earnings

Mumbai : The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex today
opened nearly 79 points low on selling by funds and retail investors, on
the back of poor quarter earnings from ONGC and Hero Honda and weak
global cues. The 30-share index, which had gained 34.63 points in the
previous session, shed 78.85 points or 0.43 per cent, to 17,913.15
points with stocks of auto, banking and realty sectors retreating.
