Kerala to tackle entry of retail giants

The Kerala government has initiated action to counter the entry of retail majors like Wal-Mart and Reliance Industries into the state by providing huge subsidies for producing vegetables. UK-based Vodafone has paid top dollar to acquire Hutchison Essar’s telecom business in India. Business logic would imply that Vodafone would have to eventually increase the costs of its telecom services to recover the premium it paid for the business if it were to eventually make money on the deal.
