View Article  Chhattisgarh to implement VAT in new fiscal.

The Chhattisgarh Government has announced that it will implement Value Added Tax (VAT) from April 1, 2006. 
 
Finance Minister Amar Agrawal announced this in Assembly while introducing the Budget. For the first time a revenue surplus Budget was placed in the State.

View Article  Survey: Indirect taxes may cross Rs 200,000 crore .

NEW DELHI: The finance ministry said indirect tax collections are likely to cross Rs 2,00,000 crore this fiscal, well above the target of Rs 1,92,215 crore.

Excise tax collection is likely to touch Rs 1,15,000 crore, while customs duty collections is expected to be Rs 64,000 crore and services tax will hopefully touch Rs 23,000 crore this fiscal, Central Board of Excise and Customs, chairman, M Jayaraman said in his address at an award function here.

NEW DELHI: Cautioning that the economy's rosy outlook was not devoid of risks of inflation, hardening interest rate and fiscal deficit, the pre-budget Economic Survey on Monday prescribed hastening tax and labour reforms and measures to remove infrastructure bottlenecks to sustain high growth.

HCL Technologies and US-based Cisco Systems are planning a unique royalty model.

According to a release issued by HCL Tech to the BSE today, Cisco has licensed the intellectual property (IP) rights for one of its network management products to the company . "The company would be completely responsible for the engineering of the product," the release added.
