Government on Thursday announced a cut in petrol prices by Rs 2/litre and that of diesel by Re 1/litre. The announcement was made by Petroleum Minister Murli Deora. Following the reduction, which would be effective from midnight tonight, retail selling price of petrol in the national capital would be Rs 42.85 a litre and diesel Rs 30.25 a litre.
