An estimated 30 per cent of the nearly 1.2 million electorate cast their votes till noon on Friday in the by-election to the prestigious Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency. The voter turnout was low in urban areas, while Assembly segments in the rural belt reported brisk polling in the first few hours.
