Torrent Power Ltd. wants to set up a 1,000-megawatt coal-based power plant and invest in the distribution business in the eastern state of Orissa, a government official said.Torrent Power, created from the merger of Torrent Power AEC Ltd and Torrent Power SEC Ltd and soon to be listed on the stock exchanges, has submitted such a proposal to state authorities, a company official confirmed on Wednesday.
