Filmstar Jaya Bachchan was offered the Rajya Sabha seat thrice before she finally agreed to accept it. She would not have in her wildest dreams imagined that the Election Commission would take the extreme step of disqualifying her from this post especially since the whole area of what constitutes `profit’ and `remuneration’ remain politically grey areas.
