Mohammad Kaif and Anil Kumble performed a remarkable salvage job as a jittery India came back from the gallows to keep themselves afloat in the first cricket Test against England here on Friday.
 
Kaif slammed a gritty 91 and found able support from veteran Kumble (58) as the duo pulled India out of a precarious 190 for seven to a far more respectable 322 for nine at close on an eventful third day.
