The income taxpayers’ club is shrinking. The number of individuals filing their tax papers with the Income Tax Department is expected to go way below the 2.5-crore mark, as a result of the dispensation of the ‘one-by-six’ scheme and progressive raising of the tax exemption limits. This would mean that less than 3% of 100 crore people in the country show up on the income tax radar.

Gail buys first LNG cargo

State-run Gail India Ltd on Tuesday said it has purchased its first LNG cargo from the international market.
The company has bought one spot cargo of 135,000 standard cubic metre of LNG from Algeria, it said in a release.
